- Instructions are printed right on the HID Light Fixture Tester:
1. Make sure power is off
2. Screw tester into base lampholder and turn power on
3. The tester checks the starting pulse voltage and the open circuit voltage (OCV) of the ballast
4. Lamp 1 blinks--OK, Lamp 1 does not blink--check starter
5. Lamp 2 lights--OK, Lamp 2 does not light--check ballast
