Reliable flaw detection requires three important considerations:
Proper Transducer Selection: Transducers used for flaw detection areusually of the narrow band variety to provide the best possible sensitivity tothe anticipated discontinuities. The frequency is chosen so that thewavelength in the material is optimized for the orientation and size ofexpected discontinuities. Transducers are selected according to application-please call 888-270-2690 to get probe listing or a recommendation
Calibration or Reference Block: This block should be made of the samematerial as the parts to be inspected. Most importantly, the calibration blockshould have a series of fabricated discontinuities representing thoseexpected to found in the test piece
Calibration Setup: Finally, it is necessary to establish the proper calibrationof the DFX Series in order to assurereliable flaw detection.
