- Picks up a 5 PSI leak from a 0.006" diameter hole at 30' away • Frequency response 35K–45 KHz
- Audible indication via headphones and built–in speaker
- Visual indication via needle scale relative display
- Contact or non–contact measurement to zero in on any leak source
- Remote sensors on 6' coiled cable
Applications
- Pneumatic systems: Check for escaping air in all pneumatic systems or emissions from air lines, steam traps or vacuum lines.
- Corona discharge: Prior to visible arcing, there is an electrical discharge which sounds like vigorously frying bacon which is readily picked up by these detectors.
- Bearing wear: Long before vibration sounds are apparent, changes in the volume of ultrasonic sounds are an early indication of bearing failure.
- Valves: Closed valves which are seated properly emit no sound. The slightest leak from an improperly seated liquid or gas valve can be detected ultrasonically.
- Construction leaks: In conjunction with the ultrasonic transmitter, the detectors can check the watertight seal of windows and doors, cold storage door air tightness, correct door fitting, etc.
- Steam traps: The functioning of a steam trap including blow–by’s, machine-gunning, leakage, blockage and oversized traps can all be determined ultrasonically without interference.
- Water leaks: Air can be added to a water system to cause a distinct “sputtering” at the leak location. The sputtering and whistle sounds created are usually in the ultrasonic range and can be sensed and located.
